Housing Ministry has said that in the event that a Binveriya Scheme applicant who has been selected to receive land passes away, the plot can be registered to their heirs.

In a statement, the Ministry said that the heirs of the deceased applicant have to submit court documents to prove inheritance. The documents can be submitted through the Ministry's Hiyaavehi Portal and arrangements will be made to sign agreement for the plot.

A total of 1,408 plots will allotted under the Binveriya Scheme but only 465 plots were given last year and 159 plots awarded this year.

There are 19,631 applicants who meet the requirements for the Binveriya Scheme.
