Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Mutthalib has said that all water and sewerage projects awarded to FENAKA will be cancelled as the company is a service provider.
Minister Mutthalib made the statement while answering a question in the Parliament regarding the work on RO plants, admin buildings and pump stations in B. Dhonfanu during the former administration. He said that since FENAKA was formed to provide service, and not carry out contract work, the projects will be cancelled.
Minister Mutthalib said there are projects worth MVR 1 billion currently ongoing across the country, and the projects will be handed over to MWSC for completion.
"We are trying to find a way to hand over the projects to MWSC as soon as possible," he said.
The Minister said the government will not sit idle on any of the projects in any island and is trying to find a way to start the projects as soon as possible.
