MIFCO Chairman Ahmed Shareef has said that he will strive to make MIFCO a profitable company with state-of-the-art facilities and the board will fulfil its role in strengthening its operations.

Shareef made the comments while speaking at a special function to conclude the 'MIFCO Efficiency Exercise', which was held at Kanduoiygiri Fish Village from Wednesday to Thursday last week.

Highlighting the reform agenda adopted by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Shareef said that MIFCO's management's efforts so far to improve the governance of state-owned companies is a strong step towards reducing inefficiency.

He said the management has confidence in the company's efforts to improve its operations and there has always been discussion among the board members on decision-making at the board level to address the problems of governance and what is best for the company.

"I am ready to work with the government to do whatever it takes at the board level to ensure the best for the employees and the company. The board's decisions will depend on the future of the company. That is the view of the entire board," Shareef said.

He said that such seminars make it clear how things are and how things are going, and it would become easier to serve by negotiating the best way to do so, by pursuing the latest strategic ideas.

Shareef said there were still a lot of things that needed to be strengthened during the exercise with a lot of focus on human resource management, technical and engineering.

He added that there are a number of decisions that need to be taken at the policy level as well in the management's efforts to find new markets.
