Team Qatar has won the Ooredoo Nation Global Face-off, the first international esports tournament organised by Ooredoo Maldives.
Maldives and Qatar showcased immense competition in the event which featured Rocket League.
The tournament, held from 8-10 August, marked a significant milestone for Ooredoo Nation Maldives as a first in the international esports arena. With a prize pool of USD 1,919, the tournament highlighted Ooredoo’s commitment to nurturing the gaming community in the region.
Gamers competed in the 3v3 Rocket League format, delivering high-octane performances that captivated audiences. The event was live-streamed on the Ooredoo Nation YouTube channel to showcase the talent in the gaming communities of both countries and drew a global audience.
Khalid Al-Hamadi, Chief Executive Officer of Ooredoo Maldives, highlighted the tournament as a platform that has placed Maldives on the global esports stage. He expressed satisfaction at the event's success and emphasised the potential for future international esports competitions and the role of Ooredoo in fostering greater connections between the Maldives and Qatar.
