Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, who is currently on a three day official visit to the Maldives arrived in Addu City on Sunday.
Jaishankar was welcomed at the Gan International Airport by Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer, Addu City Mayor Ali Nizar and Addu City MPs.
Jaishankar, during his visit to Addu City, will officially hand over two projects that have been completed in Addu City.
The projects are the land reclamation and beach protection project in Addu City and the Hankede Bridge Project, which will revolutionize tourism in Addu City. Both the projects were implemented under the line of credit facility of Exim Bank of India.
Jaishankar arrived in the Maldives last Friday. During his three-day visit, he met with President Dr. Muizzu and the main opposition MDP President Abdullah Shahid.
Jaishankar also met Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer and Defense Minister Ghassan Maumoon.
During his visit, Jaishankar also signed an MoU with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to bring UPI to the Maldives.
