Sports Minister Abdullah Rafiu on Saturday announced the Golden Futsal Challenge 2025, which is the biggest futsal event in the Maldives.
The Golden Futsal Challenge, which is scheduled to start on January 4 next year, was announced by Minister Rafiu at an event held at the Ministry. Golden Futsal Association President Rilwan Moosa thanked the Minister for announcing the tournament.
At the special event, Minister Rafiu said the Golden Futsal Challenge is one of the strongest sporting events in the Maldives. The Minister in particular noted the perfection of the tournament arrangements in prior years.
"The Golden Futsal Challenge is a very exciting and very strongly organized tournament. And especially with all the Atolls, including the teams from the city area, the whole country is involved. We are talking to the organizers of this tournament. Hopefully, the ministry will provide all possible support to make the tournament even more exciting,” he said.
In addition, Minister Rafiu said it was a pleasure to maintain the discipline of the players and always conduct the tournament with perfection. The Golden Futsal Challenge has been a great joy fo the Maldives, he said, adding that the players' behavior has changed for the better from year to year.
This year's Golden Futsal Challenge has ended successfully with a record number of supporters attending the final match. The match was be played between 2023 champions Laamu Gan and Baa Eydhafushi, where the latter won the championship.
The Golden Football Challenge started in 2015 and the tournament was slowly taking off. A total of 129 teams have played 320 matches in the tournament. One Online has been the online media partner of the Golden Football Challenge for the past two years and this year.
