Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has said that the positive results of India's aid to the Maldives will be seen in the next few days.

Jaishankar arrived in the Maldives on an official visit at the invitation of Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer on Friday. He was welcomed at the airport by Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer.

In a joint press statement issued by the Maldives and India to mark the official visit, Minister Jaishankar highlighted that this was his first official visit to the Maldives since President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu took office. Therefore, the visit will discuss how to shape the relationship between India and the Maldives, Jaishankar said.

“The positive results of India’s assistance to the Government of Maldives in infrastructure development, economic diversification and social development will be seen during the next three days of this visit,” Jaishankar said.

He said India has always given priority to provide assistance and cooperation to the Maldives in various fields. He said the strengthening of relations between India and Maldives will facilitate the two countries to work together on various challenges.

During this visit, Minister Jaishankar will call on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and hold meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Minister of Defence.

A joint meeting will be held with the Minister of Finance, Minister of Economic Development and the Governor of the Maldives Monetary Authority.
