Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has said Maldives is likely to experience bad weather over the next five days starting Sunday.
MET Office said that heavy rain and strong winds are expected with wind speed reaching 40-45 kmph and rough seas.
"We urge everyone to remain alert as there is a possibility of heavy rainfall and rough seas during the day. We also ask seafarers to get the latest weather information before embarking on their journey," the MET office said.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has also advised people to take precautionary measures in view of the severe weather conditions in most parts of the country.
The NDMA has advised people to be prepared for the possibility of flooding, install sandbags at their doorsteps, and to shift items that may get water-damaged to higher places or places where water does not affect them, and to keep the electrical equipment switched off during non-use hours.
The NDMA has advised people to secure their roofs and make arrangements so that food and essential commodities are readily available.
