Armide Soliveres, who is currently ranked number one in the world for bodyboarding has won the men’s open division of the Visit Maldives Pro 2024, as part of the Bodyboarding IBC World Tour.
The Visit Maldives Pro heats have been going on since Saturday with the final heats of the tournament being held today. The final featured Armide Canary Islands and record champion Dave Hubbard of Hawaii.
Hubbard made the first strong wave in the final heat. It was a wave with a score of 6.00. That said, Armide made an 8.00 point wave with a good combination move moments later. Then bravely, Dave scored a total of 13.5 with a wave of 7.50 while Armide scored a total of 13.75 with a wave of 7.5.
Armide is now world number one by a huge margin. With a score of 8848, he leads the world rankings, and next for Armide is the Sintra tournament.
Visit Maldives Pro 2024 runs until the 9th of this month and a total of 86 athletes from 14 countries are competing in the tournament. One Sports is the online media partner of the tournament this year.
