Customers of Bank of Maldives (BML) are facing banking issues amid downtime of their mobile app.

BML's mobile app has been down since morning, with customers unable to access their accounts. According to some individuals on social media, BML ATMs are not working either.

"Everyone is for urging to use cashless services, but how do you go cashless when things are like this? I went to buy my child's interval and couldn't transfer the money so I had to come back home. Now the child is late for school,” a customer shared on Facebook.

The bank said earlier that there was a technical problem due to which their mobile app and internet services were disrupted. They added that they are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible and apologized for any inconvenience caused to customers.

When BML processed the salaries for July through their new bulk transfer system, hundreds of millions were mistakenly deposited into some people's accounts. The service has been temporarily suspended, the bank said, after fixing the issue three days ago.

Many people rely on the BML app for instant financial transactions. Some people have complained that they have to face material losses due to prolonged unavailability of the service.
