Athletes who made it to the fifth round of the men's open division of the Visit Maldives Pro 2024, which is part of the Bodyboarding IBC World Tour, one of the biggest international sporting events underway in the Maldives, have been confirmed.
This morning saw the heats of the fourth round of the men's division. Dave Hubbard, who won the record bodyboard title, Fabien Thazar of France and Hayato Enokido of Japan competed in the first heat.
In the second heat, france's Ethan Capdeville, who is currently ranked sixth in the world, and Spain's young star Ethan Perez were joined by Morocco's Brahm Iddouch. Capdeville took the heat with a score of 12.75, while Ethan went to the second round with a score of 11.85.
The third heat of the round showcased France's Maxim Castillo. He scored 9.5, this time in the strongest wave of the event, while the heat took him to 14.75. Joel Rodriguez went to the second round with a score of 13.35.
In the fourth heat, Maldives' Aamin Umar Moosa competed and scored 7.7 points, which was topped by world number two Gabriel Braga, who finished with a score of 11.55, and Brazil's Eder Luciano came second with a score of 11.35.
The third heat was won by Tristan Robert, who is currently ranked third in the world, with a score of 12.15, finished second in the heats by France's Yann Salaun.
Armide Soliveres, current world number one, leads with a score of 14.25 seconded by Amaury Lavernhe with a score of 10.5.
France's Pierre Louis Costes won the last two heats with a score of 13.25, seconded by Astor Ojeda with a score of 12.25.
In the final half of today's men's Open division among junior-ranked Alexander Montes and legends Uri Valladao and Clement Lodeho, 2008 world champion Valadao won with a score of 13.75.
The Visit Maldives 2024 will continue till August 9 and a total of 86 athletes from14 countries are competing in this year's competition. The fifth round heats of the men's open division will be held tomorrow.
