After a decline in fishing since February this year, the industry has started to recover again across large parts of Sri Lanka, MIFCO has revealed.
MIFCO today said its vessel Randhi 20 will be near Malé today as fishing in the Malé area has improved significantly.
The company said that while fishing between Thaa Atoll and Laamu Atoll is better now, it is expected to improve in the southern atolls starting next week.
They further revealed that their vessel 'Maha Kalaminja' in Gaafu Alif Atoll will head to Meemu Atoll today as fisheries have improved in the atoll as well. Their vessel Randhi 23 is currently in Meemu Atoll as well.
Fishing declined sharply and MIFCO's shops ran out of seafood last month.
