Dr. Mariam Zulfa has been dismissed as CEO of the Local Government Authority (LGA).

One has confirmed that Dr. Zulfa has been dismissed from the post of LGA CEO. It is learnt that she has received the message of dismissal and has been asked to join the ministry as minister of state for foreign affairs from tomorrow.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu appointed Dr. Zulfa as the CEO of LGA on December 26, 2023, seven months after Afshan Latheef resigned from the post in the previous government.

Dr. Zulfa was previously a member of MDP and served as Tourism Minister under former president Mohamed Nasheed, but signed on to the ruling PNC after President Dr. Muizzu won the election.

Dr. Zulfa, who has pursued higher studies outside the country in law and business, was a board member of the National Parks Advisory Council of the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, Melbourne, Australia, until her appointment as LGA CEO.
