Regional Airports Company Limited (RACL) has confirmed that the violence that took place at Hanimaadhoo on Friday night did not occur at the airport, nor were any airport staff involved in the incident.

Police had previously informed the media that two Indian nationals employed at the airport had engaged in violence with a sharp object, leading to one person getting injured.

RACL on Sunday issued a statement that the people involved in the incident are not involved in any flight operation activities at Hanimaadhoo International Airport.

"The company is giving special importance to the safety and security of the airport and there has been no obstruction to the safety of the airport due to the violence," RACL said.
