Bank of Maldives (BML) has temporarily suspended salary and bulk transfers through internet banking and Favara.
The bank's decision came after some employees of The Lily Beach Resort received huge amounts of money in the form of salary on Thursday.
In a post on X this evening, the bank said it has temporarily stopped disbursing large amounts of money through internet banking through salaries and Favara, and that such transactions will have to be done again as before, by requesting the [email protected] via email.
BML said that due to an error, USD 77 billion were deposited as salary to some employees at Lily Beach Resort. The bank downed its mobile application within 10 minutes of the error and the recovered the money within the same day from the accounts it was deposited to.
On the same day, the bank had said that a large amount of money was deposited in the accounts of some people through a mistake made by an employee in the service and customers assured them of the safety and security of the bank's services.
