The Foreign Ministry has urged Maldivians traveling to the United Kingdom to exercise caution following the deaths of three children in a stabbing at a children’s dance and yoga class in Southport, in the northwest of the UK.
The Maldivian High Commission in the UK is closely monitoring the ongoing anti-Muslim protests and activities following the attack, the Foreign Ministry told the media today in a written statement.
In light of the situation, the Foreign Ministry is urging people living in and traveling to the UK, and particularly in Southport and its surrounding areas, to exercise extra caution.
"The Ministry requests all parties to exercise extreme caution and always keep up to date with the latest information, giving priority to their own safety," the statement noted.
The Foreign Ministry further urged people to stay away from the areas of the UK and fully follow all instructions from the relevant authorities in those areas.
For more information, it is requested to contact the High Commission of the Maldives in the UK on (44)02072242135 and email [email protected].
