Former Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi has won the Galolhu North Presidency in the MDP National Assembly by-election.

MDP National Assembly includes the President and ministers without the need for elections in and MDP government, along with it's parliament members. Earlier, the National Assembly included Mariya as she was the former Defence Minister. However, with the change of government, Mariya lost her seat in the National Assembly.

Mariya contested the MDP National Assembly by-election held yesterday, winning the Galolhu North Presidency with 79 votes. Aik Ahmed Esa got 28 votes as her opponent.

Some of the members of the 19th Parliament also contested the election. The Presidency of Kelaa constituency was won by former Kelaa MP Mohammed Shifau. Former MP Abdullah Waheed won the Dhidhoo constituency while former Henver North MP Ibrahim Muizzu was elected as the President of the Constituency.

The most notable election held yesterday was the MDP Malé Constituency Presidential election. Male' City Mayor Adam Azim competed with Former Maafannu West MP Mohammed Falah, where Adam won with a total of 1079 votes. Falaah received 470 votes.

More than 10,683 people were eligible to vote in the MDP internal election. 27 polling stations were been set up in the city and 24 in rural areas.
