The Finance Committee of the Parliament has decided to investigate the payment of MVR 2.4 billion in compensation to various parties by the government of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
The matter was moved by Fonadoo MP Mohammed Mamdooh at today's meeting of the Finance Committee.
Moving the matter, Mamdooh said he proposes to ask the Attorney General’s Office to send the relevant information to the committee to examine how the then government disbursed MVR 2.4 billion as compensation to various parties from 2018 to 2023.
Speaking on the matter, Hanimaadhoo MP Abdul Gafoor Moosa, who said the information would be available from the Ministry of Finance.
However, Hithadhoo Central MP Ahmed Azaan Marzooq supported Mamdooh's motion and said the information should be brought to the committee.
