FENAKA corporation has revealed that the power outage in the Addu City islands was caused by damage to the HV cable connecting Hithadhoo, by the Indian company Afcons who are carrying out the road development project of the island.
In a press release issued today, the corporation said that the 1.8 MW generator in Addu City has experienced difficulties in generating electricity to the connected islands of Addu City due to a technical problem.
The spare parts needed to repair the engine are not available in the Maldives, hence the corporation is working to find a solution to the problem as soon as possible.
FENAKA is working to send a new 1.6 MW generator set to the city to solve the electricity problem. A temporary solution has been brought to the power network in Addu City in the meantime.
