The remand period of three youths arrested with a large quantity of narcotics and vape cartridges has been extended.

In an operation conducted on the second of September, police arrested Hussain Shaavin, 26, Saaneevilaa, K. Huraa; Maryam Isha Ashraf, 21, Villa, Th. Thimarafushi; and Mohamed Nahil, 25, Reysham, S. Hulhudhoo.

According to police, during this operation, a house in Maafannu was searched, and 1.7 kilograms of suspected narcotics were recovered. Police also stated that 230 drug-infused vape cartridges, 26 bottles of vape flavor, and a bottle of alcohol were found in the house.

According to the statement of the police officers who attended the scene, the recovered items included 372.52 grams of methamphetamine, 225.09 grams of heroin, and 3,992.18 grams of cannabis.

According to the court order, all of them tested positive for narcotics.

After extending their remand multiple times, the three individuals were presented to the Criminal Court as their latest remand period expired yesterday, where they requested leniency in remand subject to conditions. However, considering that releasing them would still pose a danger to society, the court decided to remand them for an additional 30 days.

According to a police officer's statement who visited the scene, a plate containing powder suspected to be narcotics, a pack of playing cards typically used for consuming drugs, and a phone placed on top of a can illuminating the substances were observed on a table in the sitting room of the apartment where they were residing.

The officer's statement noted that Shaavin claimed the place had been rented out upon the request of a friend, and that some meth belonging to his friend would be there. Furthermore, the search of the apartment revealed bottles containing suspected liquid narcotics in various parts of the apartment, vape cartridges suspected of containing drugs, empty alcohol containers, and equipment typically used for portioning and trafficking narcotics.
