Parliament's Public Accounts Committee could not interview Ahmed Munnawar as the new Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority.
Munnawar's was referred to the Parliament by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu for approval as the new governor.
Speaking at the Committee meeting, Committee Chair MP Qasim Ibrahim said that Munawwar was currently in China. As such, the Committee was unable to interview Munawwar today.
Qasim added that the Committee has decided to write to the banks and MMA as well as the relevant sector for additional information on Munawwar.
Munawwar is currently in China as part of Finance Minister Moosa Zameer's delegation.
Munawwar, who was nominated to be appointed as the new Governor of the MMA, is currently an Advisor to the Finance Minister. In addition, Munawwar was the Finance Minister in the government of former President Abdullah Yameen.
