Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer has held discussions with multiple Chinese companies regarding Chinese assistance for various projects in the Maldives.
Minister Zameer, who is on a two-day official visit to the country at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, met with the country's Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) and China Tianying.
Minister Zameer said in a post on X that during the meeting with CMEC Chairman Wang Bo, the company noted the company's support for housing and renewable energy projects in the Maldives.
He said discussions were held with Tianying Chairman Dr. Yan Shengjun on waste management, the progress of urban service projects, paving the way for sustainable development, and ways to enhance cooperation and investment in the renewable energy sector.
Additionally, the Minister said that productive discussions were held with CSCEC Managing Director Chen Lai on future cooperation in important development projects.
Finance Minister Dr. Mohamed Shafiq and Construction Minister Dr. Abdulla Muthalib part of the delegation visiting China.
