Voting for council by-elections in six constituencies began on Saturday morning.

Voting is ongoing to elect members for the vacant seats of Malé City, Kulhudhuffushi City, Raa Atoll Rasmadhoo and Faafu Atoll Bileydhoo Councils.

Polling in the by-election began at 8:00 am today, the Election Commission said. The last time to vote is 4:00 pm.

A total of 25 ballot boxes have been set up for the by-election.

The constituencies that are being voted for are Hulhumalé, Central Machangoalhi, West Henveiru, North Kulhudhuffushi, Bileiydhoo Council President and WDC seat for Rasmaadho.

Ballot boxes will be placed at Jamaluddin School, Henveiru Stadium, Rehendhi School and Kamil Didi Primary School.

As of 11:00 am today, 7.99 percent of the voter turnout were women. Male voters accounted for 92.1 percent.
