The Parliament sitting on Wednesday concluded early following a power outage in the building.
The power outage occurred shortly after the second half of the session began. The session then resumed in about five minutes.
However, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Ahmed Nazim who was presiding over the session stated that the electricity was supplied by backup generators. Only the parliamentary chamber was supplied with electricity, he said. Therefore, Nazim said, the session of the Parliament was adjourned for today.
The debate on the Criminal Procedure Code Amendment Bill moved by Manadhoo MP Husnee Mubarak on behalf of the government continued in the Parliament in the afternoon.
The session ended with a power outage while the member who moved the bill was speaking at the last opportunity.
