The man who was injured during an arrest has since been put on a ventilator.

A man was admitted for medical treatment at IGMH after sustaining injuries while being taken into police custody last Monday.

An IGMH official told One Online that the man is currently on a ventilator. Police did not disclose any further details regarding the case.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Shifan told One Online on Monday night that he was a 38-year-old man who was arrested to appear in court on Tuesday under a drug court order.

Shifan said he had asked the Professional Standards Command, the National Integrity Commission (NIC) and the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) to investigate the matter.
