A 44-year-old man has been arrested in an attempt to smuggle drugs into Addu City by hiding them inside his body.

Following an intelligence report to Maldives Police Service about a man smuggling drugs to Addu City via air by hiding it inside his body, an arrest was made yesterday at 4:15 p.m. in a special operation by the Gan Police Station at Gan International Airport.

Police said that the suspect taken into their custody from the airport and he was taken through to a X-ray scan with a court order to find two empty film canisters containing suspected drugs.
