MIFCO has made changes to the operation of its boats that procure fish.
In a message sent to the media on Tuesday, MIFCO said that the RSW 27.5-tonne vessels operating in Kooddoo - Ranchi 23, 24, 25, and 26 - will now operate under Felivaru. Likewise, Jazeera 102 which formerly operated in Felivaru will now operate in Kooddoo.
MIFCO's General Manager Ahmed Zahir said the changes were made to ensure fresh fish is procured for Felivaru canning facility. Zahir added that with this change, the boats operating in the north can also procure fish from other islands in the north.
Zahir further added that moving Jazeera 102 operations to the south would enable increased frozen fish procurement from the southern atolls.
He also added that Jazeera 106 and Jazeera 105 are also in operation to procure fish and the latest addition to the MIFCO fleet, Jazeera 104, will be brought to operation soon.
