Maldivian athlete Fasooha Ahmed has won the silver medal in the 800m event at the Junior Athletics Championship in Sri Lanka.

Fasooha is competing in the Sri Lanka Under-23 Athletics Championships on behalf of the Track and Field Association. Track and Field has brought many athletes to the Sri Lankan tournament this year.

Fasooha, won the silver medal in the 800m, finishing the race in two minutes, 13.81 seconds. Sri Lanka's SL Army's Kanika Lakshani won the race with a time of two minutes and 11.08 seconds. Kumari of the Sri Lankan Air Force team finished third with a time of two minutes and 17.54 seconds.

In the past two years, Fasooha has set the national 800m record four times. Fasooha last set the record in the 800m event of the Indian Grand Prix last month. Fasooha finished the race in two minutes and 14.53 seconds. So this time the timing is a personal record. The record will become official after the association verifies it.

Fasooha is the best female athlete at the moment. She was named the best female athlete at the Athletics Association's recent Grand Prix and Association Championships.
