A foreigner has been apprehended after damaging an immigration vehicle, obstructing the Immigration Department’s efforts to track down illegal immigrants.
Immigration Controller Mohammed Sham'aan Waheed said in a post on X yesterday that a foreigner obstructed the immigration work and damaged a vehicle used in a joint operation conducted by the Immigration and Police yesterday. The man has been taken into immigration custody.
"And as soon as possible, they will be deported after taking strict action under the Immigration Act. The operation to track down illegal immigrants will continue without hesitation and fear," he said.
In addition, four takeaway shops and cafes were raided in the city yesterday, the Immigration Department said.
Six foreign men and one woman were arrested in the operation and a cafe run by three of them was closed, the Immigration said.
They also include a foreigner who was arrested for damaging an immigration vehicle and will be subject to the strictest action under the Immigration Act.
