Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has said that there were no signs of an explosion despite reports of an explosion in a parked vehicle.

MNDF said that no one was injured and that the van showed no signs of damage as well. One's journalist at the scene confirmed the latter.

MNDF further added that no explosives were found in the vehicle or the area. The loud bang has been attributed to possible technical issues with the van.

In a message to the media, MNDF said that they had confirmed there was no threat to anyone and that Police would investigate the incident further.
