MMPRC Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Bassam Adam and the company's longest serving employee and board member Ibrahim Asim have been sacked.
An MMPRC official who spoke to One Online on the condition of anonymity stated that the decision to remove DMD Bassam and Asim was taken at the company's board meeting held yesterday. However, the official did not give the reason for the dismissal.
One Online could not reach the two for comment as they did not answer the phone at the time of press.
Asim, who has been working for the MMPRC since its inception, has also served on the Tourism Promotion Board.
While the MMPRC sacked Bassam and Asim, it appointed two members to the company's board last week. AbdulSameeu Imad and Aishath Hameed was appointed to the MMPRC board, of which Aishath was appointed as an ordinary member. Imad is a board member of the Guest House Association of Maldives (GAM).
Aisha Noorain Janah, who was the chairperson of the corporation, and Rafil Mohammed, who represented the government on the board had also resigned earlier. It is learned that both the resignations were due to internal issues of the MMPRC.
Following the resignation of the two, the former Managing Director of the MMPRC, Fathimath Thaufeeq (Kudi), was sacked as well.
Former TT player Ibrahim Shiuri was appointed as the new MD of the MMPRC on 13th last month.
