Former president Abdulla Yameen has said that People's National Front (PNF) is the opposition party and that MDP has run its course as opposition.

Speaking at the party meeting held at the PNF office last night, Yameen said although MDP had been advocating for the public, the party's narrative has changed since losing elections. He said that MDP has not been acting as opposition.

"There is no doubt that this is the opposition party. We say so because although MDP had been advocating for the public, they have not been actively acting as opposition since losing the elections. Their actions have not lived up to their words. MDP has run its course as opposition," Yameen said.

Yameen added that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has made some decisions that would have dire effects on the public, which have been supported by MDP.

He criticised MDP for supporting the current government and creating obstacles for PNF to function as an opposition party.
