Gender Ministry has held talks with the Islamic Ministry to assist families in distress.

Gender told the media on Monday that the Ministry had held discussions with the Islamic Ministry on ways to help those in need of special assistance from the state as soon as possible.

During the meeting, Gender said it discussed ways to provide assistance to vulnerable families identified on the basis of information collected by visiting homes as part of the Ministry's ongoing programme "Haalu Kihineh?" and how to provide assistance through various programs run by the Islamic Ministry for those most in need of assistance.

Gender Ministry said the two ministries discussed ways in which they could work together to improve the condition of the families, including providing them with state assistance on a permanent basis.

Gender's "Haalu Kihineh?" program is in line with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's vision of building a compassionate society by visiting people in all inhabited islands in the Maldives, assessing their well-being, identifying those in need of assistance in the community, and helping and helping people provide services close to the people.

As part of the programme, the ministry said it had visited 1,015 of the hiyaa flats in Hulhumale' Phase II till July 1 this year and assessed the condition of the residents by gender.
