A man has been arrested for smuggling drug cartridges into the Maldives through Maldives Post.

A 31-year-old local man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the case, Police said.

According to police, he was arrested during a raid conducted by the Drug Enforcement Department following intelligence inputs provided by Customs and after his arrest, a search of the parcel was conducted and 20 cartridges containing suspected narcotic substances were recovered.

He was produced before a local court which remanded him in police custody for five days.

Vape cartridges containing hashish oil have also been sold in the Maldives. Some such vape cartridges have already been seized by the police.
