The Gender Ministry has resumed the weekly picnic for children living in the Fiyavathi shelter in Hulhumalé.

The Ministry on Thursday said that this week’s activity was attended by the staff and care workers of the shelter and various sports were conducted to keep the children entertained.

The Ministry of Gender has been paying special attention to providing a safe and happy environment for children living in state shelters. The Ministry is working closely with the families of the children to improve their situation while they are in the shelter.

Among these efforts, the Ministry is also giving special priority to improving the situation of families, reintegrating children back into family life and ensuring a safe environment for children while living in family life.

"It is the goal of this ministry to ensure that every child has the opportunity to grow up in a family environment of protection, safety and family relationships. The Gender Ministry is working in accordance with the policy in all matters related to children," they said.
