Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) on Thursday revealed that a boat carrying 10 people on board has run aground.

MNDF told the media today that the victims were identified the MNDF Northern Area Command, Coast Guard First Squadron is on providing assistance to the boat that had run aground last night near Noonu Loafaru.

The boat, 'Nasfar', is 75 feet long and was carrying 10 people. The boat was en route to Malé City from Shaviyani Vangaaru.

MNDF media official told One Online that efforts to rescue the boat are ongoing and the boat is used for carrying garbage. They added that none of the passengers were injured and they are now in Noonu Holhudhoo.
