A man has been arrested in Gaafu Alif Villingilli after assaulting a woman with a rock.

Maldives Police Service noted that they received reports of an assault on a woman, who was left with injuries to her head after being hit by a rock.

Police further revealed that a 46-year-old woman was injured in the fight, and was treated at the Gaafu Alif Atoll Hospital.

While the Police is further investigating the case, they have arrested a 32-year-old Maldivian man in connection to the case.

The man in question is speculated to be prominent fisherman Ali Sajid, who also advocates for fishermen on social media. He had recently brought to the attention of Police a case of bullying in the island as well.
