Maldives Police Service and Maldives Immigration have identified 50 undocumented migrants, with the Immigration taking over their custody.

Police said the Immigration Department initiated the operation which focused on local markets and other similar markets across the city.

"As part of this operation, we have handed over 50 undocumented migrants to Maldives Immigration," police said.

Home Minister Ali Ihusan said the issue of undocumented migrants would be resolved in three years under the recently launched ‘Operation Kurangi’.

Since the operation began, a large number of undocumented migrants have been handed over to Immigration.

‘Operation Kurangi’ was first conducted in Kaafu Atoll Himmafushi.
