Ruling party PNC has welcomed President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s decision to cut public expenditure.

President Dr. Muizzu posted on X on Thursday night that the Administration will take several steps to reduce public expenditure costs.

As such, the Administration will be reducing political appointees as well as expenditure on public events.

President Dr. Muizzu said that additional measures will be taken to reduce costs as well.

PNC on Friday released a statement welcoming the decision by the President.

PNC in their statement said that the decision by the President shows the Administration’s priority is towards the betterment of the people and not political benefit.

PNC said the ruling coalition will stand behind the President in this decision.
