Former President Mohamed Nasheed has supported former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's statements on potentially working together with Nasheed in politics again, keeping aside their differences.
In an interview with Raajje TV's 'Fashaairu' program on MDP's 19th anniversary, he said the political work he started with Nasheed is not over yet. He said this is the time to put aside personal issues and move forward together.
Solih said one of the biggest reasons for the MDP's failure in last year's presidential election was that Nasheed worked separately.
"I believe that this is the time for them to think about it. This is our party. We should all come together. Personal issues can be isolated," he said.
"In the loss of 2023, people who started this party with us left. In fact, that is one of the biggest issues of losing power and losing elections," he added.
Nasheed supported Solih's remarks in a post on X today.
“Very true, I hope we can all find the direction you have mentioned,” Nasheed said.
Nasheed had previously requested to return to MDP as well.
Nasheed left MDP and formed The Democrats after a dispute between Nasheed and Solih. During that time, Nasheed worked against the MDP government.
The party contested the presidential election separately but lost in the first round.
