Four people have been arrested in connection with a confrontation with the Maldives Police Service in Dhoondigamu ward of Fuvahmulah City.

Police on Tuesday night stated that a crowd had gathered during the arrest of a suspected drug dealer. A confrontation later erupted, leaving a police officer injured.

"Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident," police said.

Police further said that in connection to the incident, a crowd gathered in front of Fuvahmulah Police Station where a man entered the station and tried to cause trouble.

Some people have worked against the operation in Fuvahmulah City with the aim of preventing it and encouraging crime, police said. A total of four people have been arrested to resolve the clash, police said.
