Home Minister Ali Ihsan on Tuesday stated that more than 50 drug dens have been identified as operating in Malé City.

The Minister was responding to a question raised by Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Ahmed Nazim in the Security Services Committee (241) meeting today regarding drug dens in the country.

Ihsan said drug dens are being operated in some government buildings and public buildings as well as in abandoned houses. While videos of the premises have been taken and an assessment has been conducted, three government-owned buildings are up to be demolished as well.

They are also trying to get permission from the owners of private places where drugs are operated in their efforts to shut such places down.
