Speaker of Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla has stated that the former President Abdullah Yameen lost the Presidency due to his failure to stop corruption.

Speaking during the event to open the PNC House last night, he said that President Yameen does not know how to appreciate sincere people and their work.

Abdul Raheem said President Yameen failed in the 2018 presidential election because he did not believe the words of senior party leaders and did not stop corruption.

“We lost our (President Yameen's) government because we could not stop the corruption. We lost our government from 2013 to 2018 because corruption was allowed,” he said.

Abdul Raheem said the details of the work to be done in the presidential election were given to President Yameen but he turned a deaf ear.

Abdul Raheem added that unlike President Yameen, President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu is a person who discusses things and seeks the opinion of the leadership.
