Maldives Meteorology has revealed that the weather is expected to be bad over the next three days.

A MET Office official told One Online today that winds will be between 12 and 22 mph in the central and northern provinces.

"Occasional clouds with gusts up to 50 mph are expected. The average wind speed is expected to be between 7 and 12 mph," the official said.

The official added that the weather will continue to be bad for the next three days and will improve from Wednesday.

"However, the rainfall is slightly better after Monday. There is not much rainfall in the Maldives. The wind is not strong. Winds are expected to be between 12 and 22 mph in the south," the official said.

The MET has issued a White Alert from Haa Alif Atoll to Thaa Atoll with heavy rain and thunderstorms with winds of 19 to 50 mph between 8:15 am and 13:00 pm today.

"The average wind is strong, especially in the central and northern provinces. If it is going to be an extreme condition, we will issue something to share information about it. It may not go to that level. It is not an extremely strong condition," the MET said.

Wave heights will be between 4 and 7 feet in the central and northern provinces while wave heights will be between 2 and 4 feet in the southern provinces, they said.

The weather will be bad for the next three days. The MET has also warned seafarers to be cautious as heavy rains are expected in some parts of the central region.
