President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has offered his condolences to the family of former Public Safety Minister Sumuvvul Ameer Abdul Hannan Haleem Dhoshimeyna Kilegefaanu.
In a social media post, the President said his passing is a great loss for the nation. The President highlighted Abdul Hannan's 10 years of service as the Public Safety Minister during the second republic of Maldives, adding that he served as a member of the parliament for a long time amongst other services.
"I pray for patience for the family of late Abdul Hannan Haleem Dhoshimeyna Kilegefaanu, and pray
for Allah's mercy, forgiveness, and eternal peace of paradise for his soul," President Dr. Muizzu said.
Abdul Hannan passed away at Treetop Hospital this morning, aged 87 at the time of his death.
He served as the Minister of Public Safety from 1968 to 1978.
He was also one of the first members of parliament under the Second Republic.
