Defense Secretary of Sri Lanka, Hemasiri Fernando, has resigned in the aftermath of the terrorist attack on the country on Sunday.

It was initially reported that over 359 people have been killed in the attacks before the Sri Lankan Health Ministry corrected the number of deaths to 253. The Ministry said that it was a mistake on their part.

While their Defense Secretary has resigned, the Indian Intelligence has preemptively warned Sri Lankan authorities of an imminent attack on three separate occasions. India said that they even sent a warning moments before the attack.

Sri Lanka, too, have admitted that Indian Intelligence sent the warning. President of Sri Lanka, Maithripala Sirisena said that the reports did not get delivered to him and would take the steps necessary regarding the matter.

There have been unconfirmed rumors that President Sirisena ordered the resignation of Hemasiri Fernando.
