Over 100 cases of dengue fever have been reported in Kulhudhuffushi, in a recent outbreak of the fever.
Speaking ot ‘One Online’, an official of Health Protection Agency (HPA) confirmed that dengue was spreading rapidly in Kulhudhuffushi and that over 100 cases have been reported so far.
The official noted that upon learning about 52 dengue cases in Kulhudhuffushi during a recent trip, information relevant to the fever were given to the task force. Dengue cases from Kulhudhuffushi were not reported to HPA on a regular basis, following a system error in HDh. Atoll Health Service.
The island council has since formed a task force to combat the outbreak and take necessary preventive measures.
Speaking to ‘One Online’ council member Sama Ali noted that dengue was on the rise in the island since February of this year. She added that the reported cases were on the rise since the rain fall around April 15th.
Following this, a task force was created by the island council with assistance from government institutions and island organizations. The task force has been working towards taking preventive measures.
One Online has learned from various sources that over 100 cases of dengue has been reported from Kulhudhuffushi alone this year, while 25 cases have been reported from HDh. Hanimaadhoo.
However, a tweet sent out by HPA less than 23 hours ago said that only 2 people have been reported of having dengue from HDh. Atoll.
HDh. Health Service was unable to send dengue reports to HPA over a system error for two weeks, however it is known that three days have passed since they have started reporting to HPA after solving all issues.
