An explosive device has been discovered in Kollupitiya, Colombo, an area frequented by Maldivians in Sri Lanka.

The US Embassy in Colombo recently announced that the package was found at the railroad station in Kollupitiya and a bomb disposal team is at the scene.

Security forces has asked the public to stay away from the area and remain vigilant. The US Embassy Twitter asked the public to report any suspicious activity to the authorities immediately.

Kollupitiya is the same neighborhood where Cinnamon Grand is located; a target of Sunday’s bombing.

Over 300 people have now been confirmed dead following the string of explosive attacks in Sri Lanka on Sunday. Since then, suspected explosives are being discovered in special operations.

An explosive in a car went off yesterday before it could be defused.
