An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) found near the main airport of Sri Lanka, Bandaranaike International Airpor, has been safety defused.

Spokesperson of the Sri Lankan Airforce, Gihan Seneviratne, said that the IED was discovered during a search after a suspected explosive was found and reported on the road to the airport. He said that the IED is believed to be made in Sri Lanka.

The IED was a six-foot pipe bomb made a PVC pipe.

Over 200 people were killed in a series of explosions in Sri Lanka yesterday. Following the terrorist attack, the Sri Lankan government had declared an indefinite curfew in the country and arrested seven people suspected to be involved in the attack.
