Sri Lanka has become the target of multiple bombings this morning including hotels frequented by Maldivians and other foreign tourists.
Latest media reports say that the death toll has climbed to 50 and over 200 people are being treated for injuries following the attacks.
The three hotels that were targeted in these explosions are Shangri-La Hotel, Cinnamon Grand and Kingsbury, all in Colombo.
A Maldivian national living in Sri Lanka said that aside from the hotels explosions took place at three churches and on areas on the road close to Pettah, an area frequented by Maldivians.
While there have been no confirmed reports of any Maldivian deaths, the Maldivian Foreign Ministry has said that they are closely monitoring the situation and asked the families with concerns to reach out to 798-3400 in Maldives and 947-2727-7072 from Sri Lanka.
